Named Honorary United Mesa Firefighter
This year’s honor bash was a great success. The highlight of the night came when we were able to welcome a special friend to our organization. Dennis Kavanaugh has shown an unwavering commitment to fire service personnel and dedication to public safety. As a councilman, an attorney, and as a friend, Dennis has always been a believer in our people and our mission. This honor has only been granted to a select few in the 30 years of our association’s existence. For Dennis it is the least we can do. Dennis’s award featured a tarnished helmet; a symbol that a firefighter has worked hard, put in a hard firefight, and risked a great deal for others. The helmet also is a means to protect firefighters while they are serving the citizens on a daily basis. The presentation of this helmet to Mr. Kavanaugh displays his dedication, commitment and service to fire service personnel.
